"Petersburg Cornucopias" 1999
50 x 70 cm
Analog color Photography

Petersburg Cornucopias – rain gutters, in funnel or bag shapes, dented, rusty, and patched up, are components of urban construction in St. Petersburg, for water is a primary element of this city. The cornucopia, a mythological symbol of happiness, is filled with fruits and flowers and stands for fertility and wealth. The rain gutter is omnipresent in these photo works as a metaphor for surplus and lack, for the desired and the abhorred.
